SOPREMA provides a roof for the stadium in Lille

Located at the centre of the triangle formed by London, Paris and Brussels, the new stadium in Lille is at the heart of Europe. With over 1.5 million inhabitants in the conurbation and more than 100 million neighbours, Lille has acquired an exceptional facility in the first multifunctional stadium in France.

This is one of the most modern stadia in Europe, with a seating capacity of 50,157 for football or rugby matches.

The building has a mobile roof, which can be closed in no more than 30 minutes. The mobile roof is made up of four elements, each measuring 80 x 35m. Located more than 31m above the ground and supported by two huge 180m long beams, the roof has three functions: protection from bad weather, particularly thanks to the high technical capacities of the Flag PVC membrane from SOPREMA, closing off the stadium completely and reducing the noise heard from the outside.

With the supply of 33.000m² of Flagon SR membrane, SOPREMA contributed to the project with its efficient and high-quality products. The Flagon membrane from SOPREMA and the technical service enabled Vincent Piront, the roofing contractor, to meet the strict requirements in proportion with the scale of the project.

Along with the Schalke 04 arena, the mythical Wembley stadium and the stadium in Lille, SOPREMA now sets the standards in the area of the waterproofing of exceptional sports projects.
